Also available is a relatively large map. It's over 100k to load, but the encyclopedia entries make even less sense without it. (Actually, the original map is about five feet by four feet, so this is a reduced version.)
So, what the heck is "Zam!"?? Well, once upon a time, I used to buy every suppliment of a certain wildly popular fantasy roleplaying game that came out. Then came something called Dragonlance. I recoiled in horror at the prod-em-along-at-polearm-point philosophy of doing things, so I started writing my own world, thinking "What would life be like, if physics and such actually worked that way?"
Since then, the wildly popular game has gone through a few transmorgrifications, and I've sometimes used another system entirely for Zam! So what I'm left with is a world only partially connected with any given system.
What's here online is mostly exported from my HyperCard stacks of Zam! data using homegrown scripts. That's my alibi for some of the quirky ways the data is presented. Right now, it's like an almanac for a world that doesn't exist. The dry presentation is offset by the total lack of relevance to anything in the real world.
Perhaps I'll get around to posting more maps, charts, floorplans, encounter tables, etc. It's partially up to you -- if you want to know more about any part of this, send me email and maybe I'll write up an answer! The same goes for any errors you might find. That way the Zam! world will grow and improve as a kind of audience participation project.
If you feel like running a campaign in Zam!, give me a holler -- we can
work something out!
