Gaantzport

Vergaantz
Population
Humans 1000
Other 80
Total 1080

Gaantzport is across the Vergaal river from Hoopla. Compared to Hoopla, this city is very boring in an mildly annoying way. Someone once said that this is where the souls of all the Vergaantz Army administrative clerks go when they die. Passing through any gate in the walls involves answering guards' questions.

City

The Blistering Wind

Inn

(also known as "The Old Fish Fart")

The Cowering Kobold

Inn

Gaantzport Pyramid

District

This may be the only part of town where the people don't appear to have a sullen inferiority complex. Due to bizarre and thoroughly scandalous set of circumstances involving her and her late uncle (the former pyrarch), the pyrarch is a nine year old girl named Pouzt. Other pyrarchs are concerned about her extreme youth, and they keep close watch on her. She attempts to appear lawful, but she is prone to extremely malicious fun when she feels nobody is watching.

Greater Gaantzport Docks and Shipyards

District

Here's where Vergaantz attempts to build an oceangoing fleet. At any given time, 8 ships are officially ready to go to sea, 2 are being built and 4 are being repaired. Vergaantz would deny it, but it is generally known that no ship built here has gotten further than Zoofeld without vanishing. About half the missing ships have been found later under the sea or broken on rocks. (The truth of the matter is that the Sea Peoples attack the ships only when they know they can win. The best of the Gaantzport ships are put into service by the Sea Peoples in far distant waters -- some ships used around Zam were taken from those areas in a similar manner. If a party steals a Gaantzport ocean ship from the docks and is then encountered by the Sea Peoples, they will be offered free passage to any Zam port, provisions, mounts, armour and weapons (of high quality, but no more than one magic item per party) to the adventurers in exchange for the ship. They will remain true to both the word and the spirit of this bargain 90% of the time. (The remaining 10% of the time, the party will be dumped stark naked on the coast of Zam far from a town and told that a good town was only 12 miles inland. (If the party has truly annoyed their captors, there is a 25% chance that a cleric on board will put a curse on them to be unable to speak or comprehend Common.)) The party will also be given the opportunity for romantic encounters during the cruise. These will provide the Sea Peoples some idea of the party's character. If they are impressed, they will let our heroes know something of their organization in Zam and where to turn for favors in times of need.

Gagwytaspun

Population
Humans 3000
Half-Elves 2000
Elves 1000
Total 6000

The city of Gagwytaspun lies at the top of the Notushabi River and the foothills of the Mottly Mountains. It controls the Woolsun Bridge which crosses the Notushabi.

The Big Secret

Every Gagwytaspuner is part of a communal consciousness. Those who never come into contact with the outside world are not even given names. The consciousness refers to itself as Derek. Derek recruits members by feeding them a magically altered fungus preparation. He usually only feeds this to newborn children of current members. For non-infant recruits, their personality and memories join the pool. Derek is not very interested in recruitment, and the recipient has to be fed several quarts per day, so this is not usually any danger to the passerby. One of the few mass inductions was two hundred years ago when three hundred orcs from the Mottly Mountains invaded. Now there are one hundred orcs in the mountains as part of Derek. When Derek finds that someone has stumbled onto his secret, he will hunt that person down relentlessly. In addition to this being-hunt, Derek destroys the reputation of his prey. Thus, most people who have survived are known far and wide as crackpots. Derek is not disdainful of individual beings and is nostalgic about his life as one person.

Bridge District

District

The area from the bridge to the roads out is called the Bridge District. It is the one relatively normal part of this city.

The Blind Basilisk

Inn

The White Water Inn

Inn

One of the closest buildings to the bridge, this is by far the most popular inn in town.

Annie The Armourer

Shop

High quality, reasonable prices, but not very speedy.

Northside Supply

Shop

General store. Has all normal supplies for adventuring as well as several abnormal ones.

Inner Gagwytaspun

District

The rest of the city resembles a hive.

Gort's Crusade

Starting at Pedantium, a crusade against Sleepers' Valley itself. Gort is a regional baron of Vergaantz.

This requires lawful evil characters of level 7 and above, marching with a hoarde into Nathaniels Other Forest to defeat the Druids once and for all.

Risks

Getting torn apart by druids.

Waking Unguent.

Waking Argent.

Overshooting and winding up in Karnak.

Routes

Unless they decide to come in from Karnak, the Vergaantzers will have to do some mountain climbing.

Route 1

Route 2

On paper this seems the shortest route, heading the most directly southward.

Route 3

This starts by heading due east, then plunging southward

Setting Up

Online:

Find players -- TBB, etc.

Do newbie campaign first.

Offline:

Update maps.

Write: Druid characters, Vergaantz characters, routes, encounters..

Starting

Characters get decrees telling them to assemble in Pedantium at the end of the month.

Greater Buh

Region

Grey Moth

City

Halfway between Plankton Badasares and South Buh, this is a pre-Shattering city on the ocean floor. Before the Shattering, it housed the world's most esoteric magic institute. This still functions, and many of the sorcerers there often forget their surroundings entirely. The Sea Peoples have always suspected and feared Grey Moth -- this is the primary reason Plankton Badasares and The Bonkers were founded. Only 5% of inlanders and 10% of coast dwellers recognize the name Grey Moth, and only two percent of these people think it still exists.
